MORE SUCCESSES IN OUR WAR AGAINST TERROR : BREAKING NEWS : Boko Haram Leader's In-Laws Arrested

The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) on Monday confirmed the arrest of the in-laws of the leader of the Boko Haram sect, Imam Abubakar Shekau, during a raid that was a part of the ongoing two month offensive on Boko Haram insurgents. This information was revealed by a spokesman for the Defence Headquarters, Brig-Gen. Chris Olukolade, at a briefing by Joint Security Committee in Abuja on Monday. However, it is not disclosed where the in-laws were being kept.
During the raid, recovery of some recorded audio messages of the insurgents was made.
The DHQ reported that a recent encounter with the terrorists led to the death of Amir of Bulabulin Nganaram, one of the kingpins on the Joint Task Force wanted list.
“Abubakar Shekau’s parents’ in-laws were picked up in the raid which also discovered various audio recordings of terrorists’ messages. Recoveries are made almost on daily basis as the operation progresses,” Mr Olukolade said.
Mr Olukolade also confirmed said 23 women and 35 children being held on charges of aiding Boko Haram insurgents had been released in Borno and Yobe States.
Nigerian forces reported they had discovered a vast network of underground tunnels connecting houses and bunkers, some of which had a capacity to accommodate more than 100 people, in the Maiduguri area of Bulabulin, as well as some collective graves of people killed by the militants.
