… Eight others in hospital
...Fate of ADC unknown
The Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Idris Wada, was on Friday involved in a ghastly auto crash which left eight others wounded.
The fate of the governor’s Aide-de-Camp was unknown as at press time.
No government official was forthcoming on whether the ADC was alive or not.
But the governor and those injured are receiving treatment at Kogi State Specialist Hospital, Lokoja.
According to findings, the governor’s official SUV had a burst tyre
at about 3pm, causing it to somersault three times and multiple crashes
by all the vehicles in the convoy.
It was gathered that the governor’s car crashed with less than
15-minute drive to Lokoja from Ayangba where he went to attend Igala
Education Summit.
A source said: “When the governor’s vehicle had tyre burst, it
somersaulted and other vehicles in the convoy rammed into each other.
“In the ensuing commotion, state officials struggled to save the
governor from the wreckage of his official vehicle and evacuated him to
Kogi Specialist Hospital in Lokoja.
“Many people on the entourage were also seriously injured but the ADC to the governor was worse hit.
“Some are speculating that the ADC had died but no on was sure
because the hospital environment was cordoned off. But about eight
others are being treated at the hospital.”
It was however learnt that arrangement was being made to take the governor to Abuja for a referral examination.
But Wada might go for referral after being “medically stable.”
The Special Adviser to the Governor on Media and Publicity, Mr. Jacob
Edi, who spoke with our correspondent, confirmed the crash.
Edi said: “The crash was due to tyre burst but we thank God the
governor is in a stable condition at the Kogi State Specialist Hospital
in Lokoja.
“Others who were injured too are also being treated at the same hospital.”
Asked about the condition of the ADC, Edi added: “I am aware that he
is in the hospital receiving treatment, I do not have any other
information outside this.”
