'BILLY KID' NEEDS HELP : Mr Biliaminu aka Billy Kid now destitute

Just like ex football legend Rashidi Yekini was buried, pennyless, this weekend in Kwara State, another Nigerian hero and former international boxer Mr Biliaminu aka Billy Kid has turned destitute. The boxer who brought several acolades to his home land is now homeless. A visit to the boxer in Nigeria during the week in his makeshift home in Ebutte Metta part of Lagos State showed that he sleeps outside at a dump site (as can be seen in this picture)..His health condition has taken a nose dive and he can hardly feed himself. The man has become a shell of his old self and is incoherent in his speech..His health condition has also become a source of worry for those living in the area.
He is appealing to the conscience of well meaning Nigerians to come to his aid. A small committee of concerned members have been constituted to see how help could come his way. A verse in the Nigerian national anthem says.”The labour of our heroes past shall never be in vain “,but how true is this,with the situation of people like Billy.The meeting of the steering committee to rehabilitate Billy the Kid will meet on Monday 7th May,2012 @ 131 Brickfield Road, Ebute-Metta(West) Lagos by 6pm.
