The Lebanese Community in Kano State on Friday expressed willingness to support and cooperate with security agencies in their efforts to counter terrorism.
The Chairman of the community, Mr Tahir Fadlallah, gave the assurance while briefing newsmen on the recent discovery of arms and ammunition by security agencies in Kano.
Fadlallah, who condemned crime in all its ramifications, said the community was prepared to give the security agencies all the necessary cooperation in their effort to checkmate activities of terrorists.
‘’The Lebanese community in Kano and Nigeria in general states unequivocally that it condemns in strongest term, crime in whatever form and manner, irrespective of who the culprits may be,’’ he said.
According to him, the community has been living in Nigeria for over a century as peace loving people conducting their lawful businesses.
He said that the community had never been associated with any crime over the entire period of its stay in the country.
‘’The community will not accept, assist or associate with any criminal activities by any individual or group.
‘’The community wishes to restate its full and unwavering confidence in the ability of the relevant authorities to carry out thorough investigations with a view to bringing the culprits to justice,’’ he said.
Meanwhile, Fadlallah who is the Chairman of Tahir Hotel, threatened to take legal action against a media organisation for alleged libel by referring to him as the person arrested by the Joint Task Force in Kano.
‘’I have already directed my lawyers to prepare for the case as they want to spoil my name and businesses,’’ Fadlallah said.(NAN)

Proprietor
of the Tahir Guest Palace and Chairman of the Kano Lebanese Community
in Kano, Mr. Tahir Faddalah, has said that no member of the Lebanese
Community will flee Kano because of security challenges.
“We are not fleeing the ancient city as reported by a newspaper because of recent attacks on the state and the security challenge that have gripped the city,” Tahir said in an interview with journalists in Kano.
“We are nationals of this country. The report is very unfair to us because Kano is our second home and we do not know any other place apart from Kano. How can we flee our home?” he queried.
He said that the Lebanese community in Kano is always creating jobs for the people through their factories and other commercial ventures and could not be deterred by the fear of Boko Haram and other security challenges, pointing out that even Chinese and Indians cannot be compared with the Lebanese in terms of creating opportunities to the people.
“I took stock of the lists of all our members in Kano; none is willing to move out of the state, and that the story has no iota of truth. It was a fabrication of lies and figment of the imagination of the writer just to cause confusion among people who are indigenous settlers,” he said.
Tahir also disclosed that over 90 percent of Lebanese in the state had nationalised and had no any other place than Kano because their great grandparents were born, lived and died in the state.
