As the US has only just agreed to send in the ZMapp experimental drug to West Africa, which is yet to be delivered to Liberia, the Chinese Government has sent medical aid and some other personal protective gear, gloves and glasses, as well as chlorine and medicines to help with the fight against the Ebola outbreak in West Africa.
The chartered flight carrying the drug and relief materials arrived, Freetown’s Lungi International Airport in Sierra Leone earlier today. Chinese president, Xi Jinping, has also sent messages to several West African leaders, expressing his sympathy for losses caused by the Ebola outbreak.
“Our major mission is to assist the embassies in distributing medical supplies and help train the local medical staff. We will also provide training to the staff members in our embassies and Chinese companies so they can better protect themselves against the virus.”
Recall that in May, the Chinese Authorities delivered a set of prevention kits for Health workers at Guinea, Sierra Leone and Liberia.
