In a move to woo party delegates ahead of the 2015 general elections, the senator representing Kaduna South at the National Assembly and former finance minister, Sen Esther Nenadi Usman has distributed about 368 motorcycles to delegates of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in her zone.
The senator, in her re-election bid, had last year distributed exotic cars to PDP leaders at the local government level.
The Kaduna South Senatorial District, which is made up of eight LGAs and 87 Wards with a population of 1.7 million people, has been under persistent attacks from gunmen.
Our correspondent gathered that about 19 cars were to be distributed to her campaign coordinators, while 106 auto rickshaws (Keke NAPEP) in addition to welding and vulcanising machines were being distributed to her campaign coordinators at the ward level across the eight local government areas.
Speaking at the presentation of the motorcycles to the beneficiaries, the senator announced the procurement of 125,000 copies of notebooks to be distributed across the various LGEA primary schools within the zone.
This is just as she announced N5.12million scholarship which is to be shared at N10,000 each to 512 students from various tertiary institutions.
She told the gathering that “Last year, I supported my political party, the PDP, by purchasing and distributing Honda cars to the PDP chairmen and Peugeot 406 cars to the PDP women leaders in the eight local government areas of our senatorial district at the cost of N17.6million.”
