Speculations that the former Federal Capital Territory minister, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai is preparing to declare his intention to run for the governorship election under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kaduna State come 2015 have been confirmed.
His political associate and veteran politician in Kaduna State, Alhaji Suleiman Othman Hunkuyi, who disclosed plans to bring El-Rufai on board while briefing journalists in Kaduna yesterday, said the former minister has succumbed to pressure from indigenes of the state to help rescue the state from collapse.
Hunkuyi who denied that he is nursing governorship ambition said, “We are working and prompting Mallam Nasir Ahmad El-Rufai to contest for the office of Kaduna State governor; it is not his decision but the decision of the good and concerned people of Kaduna State to take the state back to where it belongs.”
He also vowed that whoever will emerge candidate on the platform of APC will defeat Governor Mukhtar Ramalan Yero with a landslide victory, saying, “Defeating those running the government of Kaduna State now is as easy as ABC, because the state is decaying; what remains is just picking the state from the mess. Majority of the people are not happy with this inept government and they will push them out.
“Nothing is left of the PDP in Kaduna State but packages of lies; some people are just discovering and waiting for the time. People there know the truth; there will be no space for any manipulation or upturning the people’s destiny. We are up and doing and up to the task.”
