The outcome of the recent visit by some leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the All Progressive Congress (APC) to former President Olusegun Obasanjo in his home town, Abeokuta, Ogun State, has created some panicky moves within the nation’s security network.
Those who visited Obasanjo recently include, the APC national leader, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, former governors of Oyo and Ekiti states, Rasheed Ladoja and Segun Oni, respectively.

Delta State Governor, Emmanuel Uduaghan, Mrs. Josephine Anenih and Senator Saminu Turaki were part of the Senate President President David Mark’s entourage who also visited Obasanjo.
The trio of Tinubu, Ladoja and Oni had earlier had a closed-door meeting with Obasanjo before Mark and his entourage came. All the visitors told journalists that they came for “consultation” with the former President.
For instance, Mark had told journalist after the meeting that “you know the Baba of the nation is President Obasanjo, so we have come to discuss with him and raise some basic issues that affect both the party and the nation at large.”
However, a top security officer told our reporter in Abuja on Tuesday that the Senate President’s team was actually in Abeokuta to persuade Obasanjo to drop his ‘Site-down-look’ posturing in PDP’s political activities when the former President frightened them with his response.
‘I have graduated from site-down-look; these days, I stand up to look so that I can see very well what is happening in my country. You all know my position on this matter. Unless PDP goes back to the era of 2007, we are just wasting our time. Yes, there might be legitimate government in 2015; but I doubt seriously if there will be legitimate government after 2015’, Obasanjo was quoted as telling Senator Mark-led team.
Our source added that the aggrieved former PDP Board of Trustees Chairman never concealed his premonition of the danger ahead, after the 2015 general elections, as he told the Senate President angrily, ‘Go I tell Jonathan what I said; there might be no legitimate government in this country after 2015’.
Our security source stated, ‘We are worried; maybe there is something Obasanjo is aware of that we do not know. As former Military Head of State and former President of Nigeria for eight years, we are not taking his threat very lightly. Efforts are being made by top officers of different security agencies to meet with him so that he can further explain what he knows.
‘Also, President Goodluck Jonathan is not taking this matter very lightly at all; he has directed all national security agencies to find out the genesis of Obasanjo’s comment. Obasanjo is a very mischievous and dangerous man. Do you know he planned the visit of Bola Ahmed Tinubu-led team to be in the same time with PDP’s leaders? Yes he did’.
Commenting on crisis within PDP, Mark had said: “We are working as a party to make sure we put everybody who wants to be on board to be on boards and congresses are coming up, so I think this is normal.”
While Tinubu had told journalists that “we are here for consultation; we cannot know it all.”
