WHAT'S THE MATTER WITH MEN TODAY : MY STORY: I’ll Tell The Whole World What My Dad Did To Me Says Pregnant Teenage Girl Defiled By Father In Osun [PHOTO]

The trend among some fathers who choose to have s*x with their daughters has reached an alarming state, with a new dimension introduced by a father who allegedly had carnal knowledge of his eight and half months pregnant daughter in Ibadan, the capital city of Oyo State, when she went to visit him after about 14 years of living apart.

The girl, Ibukun, (not real name) who was impregnated by her lover in another state where she lived with her paternal grandmother was said to have been brought to Ibadan when she started having complications with her pregnancy. Her mother, who got separated from her father last December, took her in to keep an eye on her, but with her meagre income of N250 per day which she earns as a cook assistant in a local cafetaria, the woman seemed incapable of taking care of Ibukun and her two younger brothers who were staying with her.

When Ibukun saw that life in Ibadan did not suit her, she decided to go back to Osogbo. However, she had the urge to see her father whom she had not seen for 14years since her grandmother took her into custody. But her decision spelt peril for her as she allegedly ended up being defiled by her father.

According to Ibukun, "I was defecating one day when I started bleeding.  I was taken to hospital where they saw my womb protruding from my cervix. The ultrasound scan I did showed that I had placenta previa. At another hospital, the womb was pushed in and I was warned not to have s*x until delivery.

"I was brought to Ibadan but I was not comfortable. I told my mother that I wanted to go back to Osogbo but I thought of going to see my father whom I saw last when I was a child. I asked my younger to take me there, with the thought that I would at least get transport money from him.

"I went there on Saturday July 20 with the intention of sleeping over. My brother went to sleep and I also went to lie down. My father came and ordered me to remove my clothes, raining curses on me. He started robbing my br**sts with his hands. He later took black soap, rubbed it on his hands and started using the hands to rub my br**sts again.

"By then, I could see that he was aroused as his manhood had risen beneath the loin cloth he tied around his waist. It was after that that he had s*x with me. I was weeping and my brother saw him and exclaimed 'Ah! My brother also started crying. It was my brother who told my mother but I went to my aunt at Bodija area and narrated my experience to her."

The father, Mr Kehinde Olasode however denied sleeping with his daughter, swearing with the Quran. He said that he only used some leaves recommended to him to bath his daughter because of the bleeding she was experiencing in pregnancy.

Olasode said: "She had been living with my mother in Osogbo since she was about five years of age. I have not seen her all these years.  About two months ago, I was called and informed that she was pregnant and bleeding. I called her mother to inform her and she brought her to Ibadan to stay with her mother at Apete. On Saturday, July 20, her brothers brought her to me, and I sat her down to castigate her for getting pregnant instead of being serious with education or a vocation.

"Meanwhile, someone told me to get Jatropha  (lapalapa) leaves with black soap with which she should bath, saying that the bleeding she was experiencing would stop. I used the soap to rub her head and her br**sts and gave her water to rinse her body. I don't know how they came about the story that I slept with her."

The mother, Adijat, told Crime Reports that she left her husband in December to look for means of survival in Lagos because he was not responsible over the three children she bore him. "The burden was too much for me. He has another woman who bore him two children.

"My daughter got pregnant in Osogbo and she later started bleeding. We brought her to Ibadan and she stabilised. When I noticed that she was almost due, I agreed with her to go back to Osogbo because there is no single baby dress in Ibadan and I am financially incapacitated to buy them.

"She went to her father on July 20 and came back to tell me that her father rubbed and squeezed her br**sts, vowing to expose him to the whole world. She also said that he slept with her but I don't know how true that is."

Crime Reports gathered that the case was reported at Mapo police station and the Divisional Police Officer, SP Ganiyu Ali ordered the arrest of the suspect.

Confirming the story, the Police Public Relations officer in Oyo State, Olabisi Okuwobi-Ilobanafor, said that the suspect would be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), for further investigations. Crime Reports also gathered that nurses at the State Hospital, Yemetu could not conduct the test necessary to check for presence of spermatozoa in Ibukun's vulva because of her bleeding state, so as not to trigger labour.

AND WE WOULD HAVE BLAMED IT ON BOKO HARAM : Amigo Supermarket owner, others planned to bomb Israeli embassy in Nigeria ... Witness

Lebanese terror suspects in court
Fresh facts emerged on Wednesday of plans to bomb the Israeli Embassy in Nigeria by the three Lebanese suspects standing trial for alleged illegal possession of firearms.
The case is being heard by a Federal High Court sitting in Abuja.
Eight video clips of interview sessions by the Department of State Services held separately with the suspected terrorists played during the court session revealed that Mustapha Fawaz, Abdallah Tahini and Talal Ahmad Roda confirmed that one of the suspects took aerial photographs of strategic buildings in Abuja from atop Sheraton Hotel building.
The eight DVD copies were tendered before Justice Ademola Adeniyi by Simon Egede, the Director of Public Prosecutions on behalf of the Federal Government and were admitted in evidence by the court.
Though the defence counsel, Chief Robert Clarke (SAN), did not object to the admissibility of the eight video discs and the statement of the prosecuting witness for purpose of relevancy, however, he said he would challenge the credibility of the DVDs.
Following the court’s granting of Egede’s application to play the video clips of the interview sessions with the Lebanese suspects, the prosecuting witness, a technical staff of the Department of State Service, tagged DSS 10, was called upon to play the DVDs for the court.
In the first video clip played on a projector, DSS 10, in hood, identified the suspect being interviewed as Talal Rhoda, the third accused person, who was found and arrested at 3, Gaya Road, Kano on May 26, 2013.
The interview session revealed that Rhoda admitted having knowledge of the existence of a bunker underground in the house he was found and arrested in Kano, just as the video showed his admission that he serviced the weapons hidden underneath the bunker from time to time.
Egede, who highlighted some points in the interview session, said: “The videos confirmed the unauthorised and illegal surveillance carried out by the first accused person along with his foreign collaborators, where they captured different strategic buildings in Abuja from the top of Sheraton Hotel building.
“The video was played and it also revealed that those foreign collaborators were taken round Abuja, searching for the Israeli embassy.
“The video also confirmed that they have surveillance camera in Amigo Supermarket where they captured their customers, especially foreigners and specifically Israeli customers.
“The video also confirmed that the third accused person was resident at No. 3, Gaya Road, Kano and was aware of the underground bunker and was also in charge of servicing the weapons and armoury from time to time.
“The video stated all these.
“So, this in a way has confirmed all that we stated in our count of charges and the statement of all our witnesses.”

AND APC IS FINALLY REGISTERED ... WE GO HEAR WORD NOW : APC REGISTRATION: The Copy of INEC Press Statement .... PDP Congratulates APC On Registration

A SEASON OF DENIALS ... SANI YERIMA DENIES SUPPORTING CHILD MARRIAGE : Islamic law sanctions marriage based on maturity not age ... Ahmad Sani ... READ THE KAKAKI INTERVIEW HERE

SENATOR Ahmad Rufai Sani, ANPP, Zamfara West Wednesday said that under the Islamic law, a girl was considered ripe for marriage based on her physical and mental maturity and not necessarily age, just as he stressed that situations could arise where a very big girl was ready for marriage at age 14, 15, 16 as obtained in other countries.
According to him, the 1999 Constitution does not in any way provide for any specific age when a girl could be married, but was quick to add that the same constitution stipulates that any girl aspiring to be married must attain a full age.
Speaking Wednesday in an interview on the ‘Kakaaki’ aired programme by the African Independent Television (AIT), Senator Ahmad Sani who denied backing the child marriages during the clause by clause voting on the report of the Senator Ike Ekweremadu led Constitution review, said insinuations that he supported child marriage during the exercise were untrue, misleading and however attributed that entire criticisms to what he termed, the handiwork of mischief-makers.
According to him, the constitutional provision in the 1999 Constitution was in consonance with the Islamic law which states that for a girl to be married, she must have attained the age of maturity and puberty, adding, “What is the criteria for defining maturity or otherwise of a girl?
‘’The Nigerian constitution didn’t say 18 years. There is no definition in the Nigerian constitution; any woman who is married is of age. You see in Islamic law, once a girl reaches the age of puberty and she is matured she is of full age and she is ready for marriage.
Senator Ahmed Yerima
Senator Ahmed Yerima
“And once she is married, she is of full age. And that is why the constitution recognises Islamic law and made that provision. So if you say you are going to remove that provision, you are going against and counter to Islamic law.
“So under Sharia law, any country that practices Sharia, age is not a defining factor for marriage.’’
Commenting on international conventions that pegged the age at which a girl can be married at 18 and to which Nigeria was a signatory, the former governor of Zamfara State noted that such international conventions were inferior to the constitutional provisions of the affected country, adding that once a convention was in conflict with the constitution of any country, the constitution naturally must prevail.
Substantiating his argument, the lawmaker  explained that the United Kingdom which is a signatory to the same convention, an age limit of 16 to be eligible to engage in sexual intercourse.
“Today as I am talking to you now let me tell you the consent for girls to have sex is 13 and 14. In Spain it is 13. They all signed these conventions. The conventions are not anything to go by once your constitution makes provisions.
“Under sharia law, you have to be physically and maturely developed.
So if she (a girl) is not the age of 18, Islam does not accept child marriage as you define it. Child marriage is a girl that is not matured, has not reached the age of puberty, she is a minor and it is not age. You can have a very big girl who is ready for marriage at age 14, 15, 16 just as is obtained in other countries. Maturity is defined by her physical appearance, by when a girl starts menstruation for example, she is matured.’’
Senator Sani who also said that under Islamic law, a widow has the right to inherit the property of her late husband no matter her age, declared that “in fact, there is a formula (written); you see as far as Islamic law is concerned Islam has a code of conduct. It has every provision.’’
The Senator who gave an example of his first wife who was 16 years when they got married her at the age of 16 and his second wife, an Egyptian, who was 14 when he married her, said, “It is not the age as far as Islamic law is concerned, it is the maturity and age of puberty.
These issues are all matters of faith. As I said, some people are talking out of ignorance or out of sheer mischief. I am a Muslim and Nigeria is a multi-religious society. That is why our constitution makes ample provision for Sharia law, common law and for customary law.
“So we are expected to live together, appreciate the differences we have and understand ourselves. I should respect the views, aspirations and feelings of Christians and the Christian is expected to respect my own religious faith. If I believe in something and this is the doctrine of Islam, I mean a non-Muslim should not bother to find out why I should believe in that.
“Recently, I saw in Al Jazeera that the present Pope said gays should be allowed freedom in society, whatever it means but the Chairman Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) said he was going to march to the Senate if we approve gay marriage. So these are matters of interpretations.
“In Islamic law, we don’t have problem of interpretation, we have a written law and from the inception of this law every item is clearly defined.
“So in Nigeria today, what is lacking is people do not understand their laws. Some people thought that Senator Yerima  decided to introduce new things into the constitution, not knowing that this item is in the constitution. Those who put it there were very sensitive on the issues of our faith – as Muslims and they respect our feelings and  aspirations of Muslims.
‘’If you remove the definition of full age, you remove the woman. Like I said if a Moslem woman marries somebody who is not a Nigerian and you want her to live with him, with his own family with the children they have in his own country and you want her to be a citizen of his country and the country does not accept dual citizenship and she is not a kid and you do not make that provision for women; married women what does she do?
“She should wait in Nigeria until she is 18, even though she is married? So it is not even the issue of marriage, not the age of marriage but people are changing the debate to be talking about the marriage of minors.
“Islamic law does not accept for the marriage of a girl that is not matured, a girl that is not of age. This is where we have problem. Islamic law does not recognise age. We recognise maturity and puberty and you can see this from the physical appearance of the girl.
Maturity of mind, maturity of body, maturity of size, everything put together. It is not because of age.
“When I was looking at the UK law they put the age of consent for a girl to have sex or boyfriends at 16; for a homosexual they started with 21, they reduced it to 18, now they are reducing it to 16.
My argument is that somebody who is not a Muslim would not appreciate what is Islamic law. In Islamic law, we don’t use our sense to say well this is what we have to do. We are all guided by what our creator has said we must do. As far as we Muslims are concerned, we have no option, no choice.
“The Child Rights Act based on the Second schedule, Part 1, Section 61 is unconstitutional in relation to Islamic law and customary law. An Igbo woman who marries based on tradition and culture cannot be
prosecuted under the Child Rights Act because the constitution specifically said the National Assembly can make laws for the formation and annulment of marriages excluding marriages under Islamic law and customary law because Islamic law has some specific rules and regulations.
“The Child Rights Act affects only those who conduct their marriages under common law in Nigeria today. The right is valid, it is constitutionally enacted but it affects only when you go and conduct your marriage in the church.’’

AS THE FUNKE AKINDELE DIVORCE SAGA BECOMES MESSY : The Trouble Started Two Months After We Got Married…Funke Akindele ... E24/7 (READ THE INTERVIEW HERE)

funke akindele
And it gets messier…Funke Akindele and Ex Husband soil each other’s image in public
Well, in a revealing chat with E-247 magazine, Funke Akindele sort of replied her husband’s interview…
Read what Funke told E24-7MAGAZINE on Friday:
That place is not for me, I have been through hell and back.
I was abused emotionally and verbally. Really, I felt we could work things out when the trouble started two months after the marriage.
But I made up my mind and shut the door of the marriage at him when the trouble was coming to me too much.
I stooped to conquer him; buried my fame and name to make him my husband, but it did not work. At a point in time, I asked if it’s not the same man that was all over me before we married.
He nearly got me off my career. He called me severally; I did not pick his calls but when he realized my silence was tormenting him, he took to Facebook.
It’s alright.
Ask him when did he come to my house last? He left me here in my rented apartment with nothing and he will just dash in and dash out. He gets abusive, caustic anytime we have a misunderstanding and often told me to my face, he’s going to his wife in Oshodi.
He sent me SMS that he has seen a buyer for his house at Adeniyi Jones for N40million. He asked me if he should sell it and that if he does, he will buy me a new car and a rent me a new apartment.
Why now? I don’t need all that, I want my sanity. I respect him to the end but he chose to treat me that way. He said he wanted to clip my wings.
After Funke ignored him, he sent her another text abusing her and calling her names.
“So you can see that he does not mean well for me,” Funke re-iterated.
Funke and Kehinde rarely spent substantial time together even at the peak of their marriage.
Both kept to hectic schedules by virtue of their chosen professions.
While Funke is often involved in back-to-back shooting on movie sets, Kehinde jumps from one construction site to another; pressing buttons for his political ambitions; and keeping dates with his wife at home and other women by the side.
Besides, Kehinde’s disturbing and haunting pasts have repeatedly stared Funke right in the face, and according to E24-7 MAGAZINE’s impeccable source, Funke learnt shockingly that her once beloved hubby was expelled from the University of Jos almost as soon as he was matriculated as a student of the ivory tower.
His admission, was faulty right from the beginning and since that first attempt at tertiary education went awry, he shut his door at education.
When he returned from Jos, he found strength in his entrepreneurial skill coupled with the influence and support of his mother, a market leader and successful businesswoman; he became an estate developer, building chains of shops in Oshodi market.
Gradually, he crept into politics and his popularity soared that he became a well-known grassroots politician and a great mobilizer.
To shore up his image, he found in Funke who has become monstrously popular with her movie, Jenifa and the sequel, The Return of Jenifa, a ready tool.
He convinced the favourite actress to lead him to the Leader of the Action Congress of Nigeria, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, whom he had assaulted many years ago during the market women leadership tussle between his mother, AlhajaAlmaroof and the late Iyaloja General Alhaja Abibat Mogaji.
After he atoned for his ‘sins,’ he joined the train of well- wishers that went to London to felicitate with the former governor when one of his sons graduated from a university in London.
Kehinde’s lost bid to win the contract to rebuild Oshodi market really threw him off balance and that probably made him to turn the heat on his latest wife, Funke who wanted his attention.

WHO IS THIS POPE FRANCIS AND WHAT IS HIS MISSION? : Pope Francis says atheists can do good and go to heaven too! ... Catholic Online

Pope Francis calls us to love one another more clearly.
Pope Francis calls us to love one another more clearly.

LOS ANGELES, CA (Catholic Online) - The Holy Father is full of surprises, born of true and faithful humility. On Wednesday he declared that all people, not just Catholics, are redeemed through Jesus, even atheists.

However, he did emphasize there was a catch. Those people must still do good. In fact, it is in doing good that they are led to the One who is the Source of all that is good. In essence he simply restated the hope of the Church that all come to know God, through His Son Jesus Christ.

Francis based his homily on the message of Christ to his disciples taken from the Gospel of Mark. Francis delivered his message by sharing a story of a Catholic who asked a priest if atheists were saved by Christ.

"They complain," Francis said, "If he is not one of us, he cannot do good. If he is not of our party, he cannot do good." He explained that Jesus corrected them, "Do not hinder him, he says, let him do good."

The disciples, Pope Francis explained, "were a little intolerant," closed off by the idea of possessing the truth, convinced that "those who do not have the truth, cannot do good." "This was wrong... Jesus broadens the horizon." Pope Francis said, "The root of this possibility of doing good - that we all have - is in creation."

"Even them, everyone, we all have the duty to do good, Pope Francis said on Vatican Radio.

"Just do good" was his challenge, "and we'll find a meeting point."

Francis explained himself, "The Lord created us in His image and likeness, and we are the image of the Lord, and He does good and all of us have this commandment at heart, do good and do not do evil. All of us. 'But, Father, this is not Catholic! He cannot do good.' Yes, he can... "The Lord has redeemed all of us, all of us, with the Blood of Christ, all of us, not just Catholics. Everyone! 'Father, the atheists?' Even the atheists. Everyone!" We must meet one another doing good. 'But I don't believe, Father, I am an atheist!' But do good: we will meet one another there."

Father James Martin, a Jesuit priest, told the Huffington Post, "Pope Francis is saying, more clearly than ever before, that Christ offered himself as a sacrifice for everyone. That's always been a Christian belief. You can find St. Paul saying in the First Letter to Timothy that Jesus gave himself as a 'ransom for all.' But rarely do you hear it said by Catholics so forcefully, and with such evident joy. And in this era of religious controversies, it's a timely reminder that God cannot be confined to our narrow categories."

Pope Francis is trying to deepen our understanding of the fullness of Christ's sacrifice and its reach, which extends to all men and women. We often fall into familiar ways of thinking that are closed. We divide ourselves into groups, forgetting that we are all children of God, identical, regardless of any divisions we establish for ourselves. We are also all called to the One who created us and, through His Son,is recreating us anew. He calls us to accept His salavation.

The Pastoral Constitution on the Church in the Modern World (Gaudium et Spes) contains an important explanation of the phenomena referred to as 'Atheism' (See, GS #17-22). It is a very large term and we have to first examine what is meant when it is embraced by an individual to best understand the effect of the claim.

The Catechism of the Catholic Church explains that "Since it rejects or denies the existence of God, atheism is a sin against the virtue of religion but the imputability of the offense can be significantly diminished in virtue of the intentions and the circumstances" (CCC#2125).

The Holy Father was not teaching anything new. In fact, this hope that all who do not yet know God are not only capable of doing good - but will progress toward that knowledge of God by doing good -  is ancient. On Good Friday we all pray:

Let us pray also for those who do not believe in Christ, that, enlightened by the Holy Spirit, they, too, may enter on the way of salvation. Almighty ever-living God,grant to those who do not confess Christ that, by walking before you with a sincere heart, they may find the truth and that we ourselves, being constant in mutual love and striving to understand more fully the mystery of your life, may be made more perfect witnesses to your love in the world. Through Christ our Lord.
We are judged by a just God who will welcome us based on what we have done with what we knew. Those who do not know God will be judged on the good they have done and the values lived by, to paraphrase a quote oft attributed to the Roman Emperor Marcus Aurelius.

However, the most loving thing we can do for all men and women is recognize that they too hunger for the God who created them and then help them to find Him as He is fully and completely revealed in his Son Jesus Christ and the Church. That includes recognizing the good that they do and joining with them in the work.

These latest comments are consistent with Pope Francis' efforts to reach out to people of other faiths and of no faith at all. By emphasizing our common bonds, our Holy Father breaks down artificial barriers so that we may see, and love, one another more clearly.

SHOTS FROM A PORCUPINE IN PDP : Do Not Truncate Democracy, Bamanga Tukur Begs Rebellious PDP Governors ... WHY NOT JUST EXPEL THEM FROM THE PARTY? ... Yeye de smell

As the crisis within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) rages on, its National Chairman, Bamanga Tukur, has said that the five governors at the hub of it are heating up the polity and urged them to desist from actions capable of truncating Nigeria's democracy.
It was his first reaction to calls by the governors that he be removed from office, to which he objected by saying that the governors did not make their comments with ‘decorum, humility and caution.’
“As Leaders whom the general public look upon as a role model, they are expected to show respect to constituted authority and the elders which includes Alhaji Dr. Bamanga Tukur who have contributed immensely to the peace progress, development and advancement of this country,” his media aide, Prince Oliver Okpala, said in a statement in Abuja today.
The  governors: Alhaji Sule Lamido of Jigawa, Governor Rabiu Kwankwanso of Kano, Aliyu Wamakko of Sokoto, Babangida Aliyu of Niger and Murtala Nyako of Adamawa States, had visited former leaders Olusegun Obasanjo, Ibrahim Babangida and Abdulsalami Abubakar to complain about the chaos in the party.
They also visited President Goodluck Jonathan on the same issue.
In all their discussions, they called for the removal of Tukur.
“It is unfortunate that these Governors are demanding Tukur’s removal when Tukur has made immense sacrifices for the peace and progress of the PDP and had extended his peculiar kind of brotherly love to all Party men and women,” the statement said.  “The Governors are hereby advised to embrace peace and desist from dramatizing the few problems within our democracy as these can send a wrong signal to Nigerians and the international community.”
Okpala described Tukur as a “true and committed democratic, patriotic Nigerian, a first-class nationalist and an elder statesman of international repute.”
An Abuja-based political analyst who read the statement this evening said he could not understand how Tukur being removed from the position of party chairman amounts to an action “capable of truncating democracy” in Nigeria.
“What does Tukur think he is?” he asked.  “In my view, removing him would rank right next to removing Jonathan from his lofty heights if PDP wants to survive as one.  But that is to assume that the PDP knows it’s left from its right.  If it did, it would not be led by the political equivalent of crash test dummies that they have imposed on the country.”
Full text of the statement:
The recent visit by some Governors from the North to the President has raised furore, although the discussions between the President and the Governors was held behind closed – doors, the Media has been awash with the news of the meeting and the issues discussed.
Media reports have it that the 4 Governors who had earlier visited former President Obansanjo and 2 former Military Heads of State demanded the removal of Alhaji Dr. Bamanga Tukur as the National Chairman of the PDP.
We do not know the veracity of this claim, suffice it to say however that, the Governors have the fundamental right to meet and discuss with each other and whomsoever they like and may also have the fundamental right to freedom of speech and to air their views on any issue of National importance.
However, in so doing one would expect them to make comments with decorum, humility and caution. As Leaders whom the general public look upon as a role model, they are expected to show respect to    constituted authority and the elders which includes Alhaji Dr. Bamanga Tukur who have contributed immensely to the peace progress, development and advancement of this country.
Much as the Constitution guarantees certain fundamental freedom, such as freedom of speech and assembly. There are Constitutional limitations to this freedom and the Leaders should show wisdom, caution, prudence and good counsel in their comments on National issues as their unguided utterances and calls can cause unnecessary political tension.
It is also important to emphasize that the PDP, as a  political platform upon which the Governors were elected have avenues and internal mechanism for resolution of conflicts and grievances, the Governors are therefore advised as Party -men to avail themselves of these avenues before seeking audience or making public utterances capable of overheating the polity.
More importantly, the PDP has a reconciliation Committee entrusted with the task of conflict resolution in the Party.
The Governors by their action and utterances have shown contempt to this committee by not deeming it necessary or worthy to take their grievances to the reconciliation Committee.
One would have expected the Governors to express their grievances privately to the Party Leadership or the reconciliation Committee instead of going public with their grievances before seeking audience with other Nigerian Leaders.
There is no doubt that the Governors peripatetic vision have contributed in no small measure to overheating the polity.
The National Chairman of the PDP, Alhaji Dr. Bamanga Tukur has tried all in his power to bring peace, tranquility and love in the PDP. His 3 cardinal policies of Reconciliation, Reformation and Rebuilding are aimed at giving all members of the Party a sense of belonging.
The National Chairman also has an open door policy and accommodation for all shades of opinion within the Party. It is unfortunate   that these Governors are demanding Tukur’s removal when Tukur has made immense sacrifices for the peace and progress of the PDP and had extended his peculiar kind of brotherly love to all Party men and women.
The Governors are hereby advised to embrace peace and desist from dramatizing the few problems within our democracy as these can send a wrong signal to Nigerians and the international Community.
The Governors as Party faithfuls and responsible citizens of this Country holding exalted positions should desist from any action that tend to overheat the polity and truncate our nascent democratic structure.
Be it known that Alhaji Bamanga Tukur is a true and committed democratic, patriotic Nigerian, a first-class Nationalist and an Elder Statesman of International repute whose cardinal aim is to protect our nascent democracy, protect the indivisibility of our Country and ensure the progress of our great Party the PDP.

WICKEDNESS THAT KNOWS NO BOUNDS : Nurse Sets 11-Year-Old Girl Ablaze In Lagos For Stealing Meat In Lagos [SEE PHOTO]

Doctors at the General Hospital, Gbagada, Lagos, southwest Nigeria, are seriously battling to save the life of an 11-year old girl, Ita Bassey-Eno, who was allegedly set ablaze by the woman she lives with, Mrs Nkese Iroakazi, a nurse at a hospital in Surulere.
Iroakazi was alleged to have poured kerosene on Bassey-Eno before lighting a match stick to set her ablaze after the girl was said to have stolen a piece of meat from the pot.
Witnesses said the girl ran out of their apartment at  7, Adeniran Ogunsanya Street, Surulere, unto to the main road with fire all over her body as she cried for help from passers-by to rescue her.It was gathered that someone quickly stopped his vehicle and used his fire extinguisher to put out the flame on her body. The incident, which occurred last Saturday, was immediately reported at the Bode Thomas Police Station and the police from the station arrested Mrs. Nkese. The little girl was rushed to the Burns and Trauma Centre, an annex of the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital at the General Hospital, Gbagada, for urgent attention as the doctors in the hospital said she had suffered 95 percent burns and would take a miracle for her to survive.Bassey-Eno's private part was damaged, while almost all her body is burnt. The whole of her body, except her face and her feet, are bandaged, while she wears pampers because her private part was damaged. On her hospital bed on Monday when P.M.NEWS visited, the little was groaning in pains while health officials described Nkese as callous woman and that she must be made to face the music.Executive Director, Esther Child Rights Foundation, ECRF, Mrs. Esther Ogwu, who was at the hospital to see the girl, wept when she saw her pathetic state, saying that in all her life as human rights activist, she had never come across such a gruesome case as that of the little girl.According to Ogwu, "the situation is terrible. The doctor said the girl suffered 95 percent burns and that her private part has been damaged. This woman is more than wicked. Justice must take its course."One of the health officials at the General Hospital, Gbagada called me and said a woman poured kerosene on the little girl staying with her and lit up a match stick and set her ablaze. The girl ran out of the house to the main road where a Good Samaritan used her car fire extinguisher to put out the fire."Little Bassey-Eno, who hails from Akwa Ibom State, southsouth Nigeria, was brought from the village with another girl, Happiness Okon-Bassey, 13, to live with Nkese in June 2013 on the premose that she would send them to school, but that was not to be as the two girls allegedly performed the function of domestic servants for Nkese. The second house girl, Okon-Bassey, said she did not see when her colleague was set ablaze but that she heard her screaming when their mistress was beating her shortly before the she saw flame all over her body when she ran outside their home. She alleged that they were maltreated and beaten thoroughly very often and that they had no time to rest as they work almost throughout the day for their mistress without going to school, saying that they normally eat twice daily.Daughter of the alleged culprit, Ijeoma Akiti, 27, said she was not at home when the incident occurred and that she could not tell whether her mother poured kerosene on the little girl's body and set her ablaze, but that she heard such story at the police station. She said her mother was first married to her father and later remarried into the family of Iroakazi and that her mother's husband had gone on a business trip to the eastern part of Nigeria. At the Bode Thomas Police Station, police sources alleged that the little girl confessed that her mistress poured kerosene on her. The police at the station said the woman would be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, SCID, Panti for further investigation into the matter, but Ogwu alleged that the police were trying to shield the woman from prosecution. In her statement at the police station, Iroakazi denied that she poured kerosene on the little girl's body and set her ablaze.According to her, she was in the sitting room when she heard a loud cry and rushed out only to see the girl on fire and called on people to help put out the fire.Officials of the Lagos State Ministry of Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, WAPA, were at the hospital and the police station where they spoke with the woman, but she denied the story.WAPA officials took Okon-Bassey, the second girl with them for rehabilitation pending when she would be reconciled with her real mother.

CASTING SPELLS FOR 2015 : Al-Mustapha Sets To Join PDP ... THE NATION

When Major Hamza al-Mustapha, former Chief Security Officer to late Head of State, General Sani Abacha was recently discharged and acquitted of change of murder of Alhaja Kudirat Abiola, wife of presumed winner of the June 12, 1993 presidential election, Bashorun M.K.O Abiola, by an Appeal Court in Lagos, it felt like somebody messing in ones mouth and putting salt as well, as the Yoruba would say. The mess, one can’t swallow, the salt one cannot spit out, if you understand what that means. It was a sweet/bitter verdict that could be described as both victory and defeat for justice at the same time. To al-Mustapha and family, it was victory for justice while the Abiola family naturally felt otherwise. I guess most Nigerians felt the same way as the Abiolas but because the appellate court had spoken, are resigned to leaving everything in the hands of God, the ultimate judge. But the Lagos state government (the prosecutor in this case) I guess, might not be inclined to handing over to God yet, as there is still one window of appeal to the Supreme Court left and might be willing to explore that, if only to be seen to have tried everything legally possible to get what the majority (at least in the South west) believes to be justice in this celebrated murder case. I deliberately refused to join the bandwagon in condemning or praising al-Mustapha’s acquittal for obvious reasons even though I smelt rat in the whole thing. I could see politics at play here even though one could not point at any particular politician as being behind it. But with speculations in the air that al-Mustapha is about to pitch his tent with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), coupled with the reception he got when he visited the Government House in Kano shortly after his release, one needs no soothsayer to conclude that the former CSO had the support of the ruling party while his trial lasted. It might not be out of place to also conclude that the powers that be in the north were sympathetic towards al-Mustapha’s cause as could be seen not only in the enthusiastic welcome he had received so far from his home region, but also in the shocking silence of that class on how to get justice for the Abiolas, after all somebody shot and killed Kudirat and the person was acting under somebody’s order. So, who did it and who gave the order? Until that person or those people are found and punished, al-Mustapha remains guilty in the minds of the people here, the show of shame by Dr Fredrick Faseun of the Oodua People’s Congress (OPC) hailing his acquittal notwithstanding. In spite of the court’s verdict, if al-Mustapha and his co-accused as they were then, had a hand in Kudirat’s murder or any of the numerous unresolved murders of the Abacha era, definitely they will not go unpunished, both here and in the hereafter. My concern here is not even about their punishment if they were indeed involved in the murder, but the red carpet being given to al-Mustapha in particular as if (the murder case apart) he was a honourable, just and competent officer while he held court as the unseen number two in the administration of the late maximum ruler. Don’t forget that al-Mustapha, a mere Major in the Nigerian Army was more powerful than most of his seniors, Major Generals et al including the official second in command in that regime, a three-star General, Lt. General Oladipo Diya. After Abacha, no other person was most feared than al-Mustapha. Have we suddenly forgotten all those revelations made at the Oputa panel about the activities of the death squad of that regime that were answerable only to al-Mustapha? Has anybody been punished? If al-Mustapha had no hand in the killing of Kudirat what of the other crimes committed under his watch as CSO? Are we sweeping such under the carpet or has he been cleared? Until we are told that the man is free of all the baggage attached to him as Abacha’s CSO, it would be wrong to parade him as a kind of a hero or victim of vendetta as he wants us to believe. It would even be worse if any political party should roll out the red carpet for him and admit him into its fold. It is unfortunate that the PDP already smells opportunities for electoral gains in the release of al-Mustapha, and the young man himself seems to wants to make political capital of it. Apart from visiting the Government House, Kano, controlled by the PDP, shortly after his release, he had been making some political comments and visitations as well. He was at the Abuja home of the leader of the Niger Delta Peoples Volunteer Force (NDPVF), Alhaji Mujahideen Asari-Dokubo at the weekend where he was beating his chest as being the one whose actions shortly after Abacha’s death gave birth to this democracy. Can you imagine that, coming from an al-Mustapha? He wants us to praise him for not taking over power then, which he could have easily done according to him if he wanted to. What an insult? I think the young man is better advised to take it easy and lie low for some time and not reopen healing wounds. His choice of words and association tend to portray a man with an exaggerated view of his value. The Asari-Dokubo that he visited would either be in detention or a dead man under the Abacha administration that he served. We have not forgotten who killed Ken Saro Wiwa. In any case politics they say is all about interest. So, an Asari-Dokubo can hobnob with an al-Mustapha? Wonders shall never cease. All for a Jonathan presidency again in 2015? So all those derogatory things Asari-Dokubo has been saying about the north, what E. K Clark, the Ijaw leader has been saying against the Hausa/Fulani no longer hold water as long as al-Mustapha can help win the northern votes for President Goodluck Jonathan in 2015? Nigeria we hail thee. Since al-Mustapha’s release, different Ijaw groups and leaders have been failing over each other to outdo one another in hailing his acquittal, nothing wrong in that if only they are genuine and sincere, but we all know why; 2015. But al-Mustapha should remember the party story of the Biafran leader late Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegu Ojukwu, who because he was granted pardon by the NPN government of President Shehu Shagari in the second republic, quickly joined the on his return from exile and took Ndigbo to NPN, thinking that the interest of his people, who had followed Dr Nnamdi Azikwe to NPP that time would be better protected in the ruling party, he was wrong. The rest is history. Nothing personal against al-Mustapha, but he should tread softly and realise that the murder of Alhaja Kudirat Abiola is still fresh and hurting in our memory, beating his chest all over the place or jumping into the political arena would do nothing to heal the wounds, he needs to show remorse and seek ALLAH’s forgiveness for the pains he inflicted on so many Nigerians as Abacha’s CSO. This is more honourable than joining the political fray. A word for President Jonathan and his group as well, Nigerians are no fools again; our mumu don do. SMALL BOYS OR SMALL MEN : Men Of My Age Are ‘Small Boys’ Around Me ... Uche Jombo INTERVIEW

In this interview with Sam Olatunji, Uche Jombo speaks on cheating and new movie ‘Unconditional’. What is it with the celebrity kids on your new movie, ‘Unconditional’? We didn’t set out to use celebrity kids. I told everyone including you the age range I want and people suggested the kids. Aghahowa’s daughter has wanted to act since age 5, we auditioned Chigozie, and she did well and got a coach to coach them. 2face’s daughter is just a drama queen. And this movie, Unconditional is not all about them, Dakore, Ruth Kadiri and I acted in it. It’s the kind of move that will touch the heart. If your husband were to be a serial philanderer like Desmond’s character in the movie, Lies Men Tell, what will you do? I will castrate him, he knows and believes that. To me, there is no excuse to cheat, its either you are with someone or not, and if you are tired of the person, please accord the person decency of respect by saying it’s over. Don’t go making someone look stupid. The problem with me is there is no in- between. Do you believe what you are saying or are you saying it for the purpose of this interview? I am saying,Uche Jombo-Rodrigues doesn’t have in-between. That is the reason it takes me long time to make a decision or take a stand on something, but when I do, that is it. There is no excuse not to honour an agreement you have made, this doesn’t have anything to do with this interview. It is the principle that guides me. It is not just about marriage, it’s how I conduct my relationships, its either it is this or that, if that is mymind-set in a relationship, you should know that for marriage it’ll be 150%. There is no room for cheating. So you believe your husband will or should not cheat on you? I don’t have control over what someone will do, I’m not God. I’m talking about me, how I conduct things. It’s not an option that it will happen, I will not tolerate cheating. Are you saying you will not forgive the man who cheats on you and is manly enough to say I’m sorry? If you are in that situation Sam, oh God! You are going to slave for me for life. And do you know any man that will want to slave for a woman for life, answer? Is it true you are older than your husband and the man you dated before him? I have never dated or married someone I was older than in my life. If you have the illusion of someone’s age, that is your business, and I am even too mature for my age. That is the problem, because men of my age are ‘small boys’ around me, I can’t date them. I am someone who has to become a mother to some of my siblings at the age of 14. Because you are an under-achiever does not mean I should play down on my achievement. If age is the yard stick for you to succeed, you should not judge people with it, I don’t have an apology. If I’m learning from people who are older than me that is because I don’t hang out with my age mates; I don’t think there is anything else you want to teach me, and if you want to judge me by the people I hang out with or by when I started my hustle, where the hell were you at that time? What really matters to me is that people who know me during my not-too-proud days are so proud that, this is me now. I have come far, it’s something I’m grateful for, and I couldn’t have even written it better if it were a story.

SIGNS OF THE TIMES : General Overseer's Wife Catches Him With A Member's Wife In Lagos

"I was surprised that my husband locked his prayer partner, wife of another man, in his bedroom overnight... The act not only led to the collapse of our marriage but it also led to the break up in the woman’s home because after I had left him, people were still seeing my husband and the woman together.

“Her husband eventually sent her packing from her matrimonial home...”

Those where the words of an estranged pastor’s wife, Mrs. Rebecca Bamidele, while narrating to an Ojo Customary Court in Lagos, how her husband, Pastor Israel Bamidele, locked himself with a female prayer partner in his bedroom overnight on several occasions.

Giving evidence in a divorce petition which her husband filed against her in the court, Rebecca said although her husband falsely accused her of infidelity, he was the one that is neck deep in the shameful act.

Apart from the issue of hosting his prayer partner in his bedroom, Rebecca also disclosed that she caught her husband, Pastor Bamidele, sleeping with his school secretary on several occasion, but she couldn't complain because he would beat her silly.

When asked the position of her husband’s family on the crisis, Rebecca said:
She once traveled to Osun State to meet her mother-in-law but to her surprise her husband's mum said she should allow his son marry another wife because her father-in-law, who is a prophet, had three wives.

redecca added, “When I returned to Lagos, my husband quarreled with me, saying why should I go to his homestead in Osun State to inform his mother about issues in our marriage in Lagos?”

She said, “anytime I complain, my husband will say I was becoming too stubborn for him. He would say in Yoruba, ‘ila ti n ga ju onire lo’, meaning, the okro plant was becoming taller than it's owner.”

When the court asked her about the role played by other pastors to resolve the crisis, Rebecca said Bamidele is the founder and general overseer of his church and as such other leaders were subordinated to him since he appointed them.

The court president, Hakeem Tunde Oyekan, adjourned the matter till 27 August, 2013, for judgement

SHOCKING REVELATIONS ABOUT THE TIMES : SHOCKING: Anambra Infested With Male Sex Workers ... IGBO KWENU!

International AIDS Society
There was  a startling revelation, yesterday, that males operate sex spots, just like females in Anambra State.  Investigations by the Anambra State Aids Control Agency, SACA, showed that there are 618 female and 24 male sex spots in various parts of the state.
Director of SACA, Dr. Ogochukwu Ndibe, who gave the figures at a harmonization programme for international partners operating in the state, said there are 5920 female and over 500 male sex workers in the state.
On the average, there are 10 female sex workers and 5 male sex workers in a spot.
He said: “There are men who have sex with other men as a matter of preference or practice, regardless of their sexual identity or sexual orientation and irrespective of whether they also have sex with women or not.”
According to Ndibe, local governments where the male and female sex spots were prevalent include Awka South, Awka North, Ihiala, Onitsha South, Orumba North, Nnewi North, Onitsha North, Aguata, and Njikoka.
Anambra, with 7.8 per cent prevalence of HIV, is among the highest in the country, although Ndibe explained that with the support of the state government and the current interest and support of many international partners in the state, the rate of spread of HIV in the state would soon reduce.
He, however, said there was need for all levels of government and the communities to improve on direct funding of the HIV response to achieve the desired result as quickly as possible

AS THE GAY MOVEMENT AND SAME SEX RELATIONSHIPS CLAIM ANOTHER VICTIM : "Who am I to judge gay people" ... Pope Francis

pope
Pope Francis declared on Monday that it was not his place to judge homosexuals and said they should not be marginalised but condemned the gay lobby as a “serious problem”.
The remarks — made to journalists as he flew back to Rome from a trip to Brazil — appeared to be more conciliatory towards homosexuals than his predecessor Benedict XVI.
“If someone is gay and seeks the Lord with good will, who am I to judge?” he said
“The problem is not having this orientation, it is lobbying. That’s the most serious problem I think.”
Francis had to field questions about Battista Ricca, who was appointed by the pontiff to a key position at the troubled Vatican bank, but is embroiled in allegations that he had gay relationships with male prostitutes.
The pope said he had ordered a “brief investigation but we found nothing on him”.
“I have not seen anyone at the Vatican who is registered as gay on his identity card. We acknowledge that there are (gays),” he said.
Nevertheless, “the catechism of the Catholic Church says clearly that we must not marginalise these people who should be integrated in the society.”
The Italian weekly L’Espresso this month reported that Ricca had gay relationships during his time at the Vatican embassy of Montevideo in Uruguay as well as an affair with a Swiss guard which ultimately saw him sent back to Rome in disgrace in 2010.
He was once left badly beaten after trawling notorious gay hangouts and also had to be rescued from an elevator in which he was stuck while he was with a young gigolo he had invited to the embassy for the night.
An internal bid to cover up Ricca’s activities meant Francis apparently had no idea about Ricca’s past before he appointed him as his personal representative at the scandal-hit bank this year.
The pope admitted in June that there is a “gay lobby” in the Vatican’s secretive administration, the Roman Curia, according to a Latin American Catholic website.
Gay rights groups had voiced hope on Francis’ appointment that the Argentinian pope would be friendlier to homosexuals than his predecessor.
Benedict had angered the gay community with his suggestion in 2008 that homosexuality was as much of a threat to the survival of the human race as climate change.
He has also called on Catholics to “fight” to maintain the traditional family consisting of a father, mother and children, and criticised gay marriage and abortion as “insidious and dangerous threats to the common good”.
Without expanding on the two issues, Pope Francis gave a firm answer to a question on gay marriage and abortion — both of which the Church opposes — saying “you know perfectly the position of the Church”.
He also said women should be given a bigger role in the Church, but refused to consider their ordination, saying the “door is closed” on the issue.

THE MAKING OF A FOOL AT 70 : Jonathan May Recognise Amaechi As NGF Chair ... (LeadershipNews) : So What Happens To Jangling Jonah Jang ... YEYE DE SMELL.

Four days after a peace meeting between President Goodluck Jonathan and some governors who have been up in arms against him, indications have emerged that he (Jonathan) may accept the outcome of the May 24 election of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF), LEADERSHIP has learnt.
However, the governors have also reportedly made a commitment to the president that the Rivers State governor, Rotimi Amaechi, who won the NGF election would be compelled to apologise to the president.
The apology commitment, LEADERSHIP gathered, was as a result of the strong exceptions President Jonathan took to some disparaging remarks Governor Amaechi personally made against his (Jonathan) person in the course of the debacle.
The president was said to have expressed his displeasure over Amaechi’s utterances to the visiting governors.
The governors who met with the president at the Presidential Villa on Saturday are those of Niger State, Muazu Babangida Aliyu; Kano State, Alhaji Rabiu Kwankwaso; Adamawa State, Murtala Nyako; Sokoto State, Aliyu Wammako; and Jigawa State, Sule Lamido.
The Aso Rock parley which marked a significant leap in the lingering crisis ended with speculations that the governors had demanded from the president the sack of the party’s national chairman, Bamanga Tukur, as well as the recognition of Governor Amaechi as chairman of the NGF.
Although it could not be confirmed if President Jonathan had acquiesced to the demand of the governors to sack Tukur, a top presidency source told LEADERSHIP on condition of anonymity that “one of the demands the president has been worried about is that of the NGF election”.
According to the source, President Jonathan has been put on pressure from “some respectable quarters” on the NGF crisis. He said: “Even before the visit of the governors to the president, there had been some pressure from some respectable quarters in the land concerning the NGF issue.
“It is not as if Mr President was involved in the whole thing called NGF even from the time of its election to the time the governors started having it rough with one another; the players were only dragging in the name of the president for nothing.
“But I think the visit was a good one because, as party members, there is no way we can fight for too long because we all need ourselves; the only thing that baffles me is their demand for the removal of the national chairman; it is a matter of law; the man can’t be removed just like that.
“Of all the demands, the one the president has been worried about is that of the NGF election because it marks a point of departure for our democracy.
“As a democrat who believes in the rule of law, Governor Amaechi’s excesses from all indications may be overlooked so that we all forge ahead because politics is about give and take; after all, it is not the NGF which is a voluntary body that will decide who gets what.”
LEADERSHIP gathered that as part of the concessions being mooted, President Jonathan is to meet his key loyalists after which he would meet with all PDP governors next week.
Apart from debriefing his loyalists, Jonathan, it was gathered, will use the opportunity of today’s meeting to canvass the replacement of Akwa-Ibom State governor, Godswill Akpabio, as chairman of the PDP Governors’ Forum.
Akpabio, LEADERSHIP learnt, may be replaced by his Katsina State counterpart, Ibrahim Shehu Shema.

Shema was in the race for the NGF chairmanship before the entry of Bauchi State governor, Isa Yuguda, that eventually led to the adoption of Governor Jang as the consensus candidate of the pro-Jonathan governors.

TIME FOR NIGERIA TO SLAM A £10,000 LEVY ON THE BRITONS AND EVERYONE HOLDING A BRITISH PASSPORT : UK visa: Nigerians begin payment of £3,000 bond Nov

British Prime Minister David Cameron
OUTCRY against its £3,000 tourists visa bond notwithstanding, Britain will commence the scheme in the six listed Commonwealth countries in November, Financial Times report quoted the Home Office as saying.
The Commonwealth countries to be affected by the policy which was announced in June are Nigeria, India, Kenya, Sri Lanka, Pakistan and Bangladesh.
The affected countries are considered to be source of “high risk” tourists to the UK.
Some visitors from the six countries, under the scheme, will be asked to pay a £3,000 cash bond in return for visitor visas that allow them to stay in the UK for up to six months.
According to official data, these six countries accounted for more than half a million visa applications in 2012.
There have been outpours of anger by governments of the affected countries, especially Nigeria and India against the policy.
A protest in India last month forced the British Prime Minister David Cameron to declare that final decision had not been taken on the policy, while the Nigerian government asked Britain to renounce the scheme.
The Federal Government, through the Foreign Affairs minister, Olugbenga Ashiru,  had in June expressed “the strong displeasure of the government and people of Nigeria” over the “discriminatory” policy.
Ashiru warned British High Commissioner Andrew Pocock at a meeting in the minister’s office in Abuja, barely 24 hours after the policy was announced, that the move would “definitely negate” the two country’s commitment to double trade by 2014.
The minister told the British diplomat that Nigeria, Africa’s most populous nation, had “a responsibility to take appropriate measures to protect the interest of Nigerians who may be affected by the proposed policy, if finally introduced.”
The British High Commission in Nigeria after the meeting issued a statement quoting Pocock as saying that his government planned to undertake “a very small scale trial of the use of financial bonds as a way of tackling abuse in the immigration system (which occurs when some people overstay their visa terms).”
He said that the details of the pilot scheme were still being worked out and if it goes ahead in Nigeria, it would affect only a very small number of the “highest risk” visitors.
“The vast majority would not be required to pay a bond. Those paying bonds would receive the bond back, if they abided by the terms of their visa,” he said.
More than 180, 000 Nigerians apply to visit Britain each year and about 70 percent or around 125, 000 of these applicants are successful, he said.
A Home Office official said the six countries highlighted were those with “the most significant risk of abuse”
The Home Office said on Friday that only individuals deemed “high-risk” would be asked to pay the bond. But some officials admits that the mere mention of a bond would be enough to deter visitors.
“In the long run, we are interested in a system of bonds that deters overstaying and recovers costs if a foreign national has used our public services,” an unnamed Home Office official said.
Ashiru said on Sunday that the UK embassy had not communicated to his office the plan to commence the bond scheme.
““They have not communicated with me,” the minister said when The PUNCH sought his reaction to the latest development.
In the UK, luxury goods retailers have denounced the plan as an “insulting deterrent” to wealthy tourists, which will hit sales and damage London’s reputation.
They are urging the government to drop the pilot, saying the restrictions will damage their business if Commonwealth tourists – particularly Nigerians, now the sixth biggest spenders on luxury goods in the UK – are put off.
“It’s embarrassing that our country would consider these measures against visitors who spend so much in our stores,” Managing Director of Harrods, Michael Ward, said .
“There seems to be a deeply frustrating attitude in Westminster that they should do whatever they can to actively prevent people coming to the UK,” Ward added.
Harrods is reputed to be the biggest department store in Europe, occupying a five-acre site in the royal precinct in London.

WETIN CONCERN JONATHAN WITH RIVERS STATE CRISES? : Rivers Crisis: Monarch invites Jonathan, Amaechi, others for peace talks ... YEYE DE SMELL

Rivers Crisis: Monarch invites Jonathan, Amaechi, others for peace talks
In a bid to resolve crisis rocking Rivers State, Her Royal Majesty Queen Akasoba Duke-Abiola, the Akasoba of Kalabari and Chair, Akasoba Centre for Peace and Conflict Resolution (ACPCR), has invited some political leaders in the country and outside Nigeria for a meeting.
According to a statement issued on behalf of Queen Akasoba by Secretary of the ACPCR, Dr. Jen Clarence, the invited leaders included the Nigerian President Dr. Goodluck Jonathan,  the Governor of Rivers State, Rotimi Amaechi,  ex Nigerian Head of State, Dr. Yakubu Gowon, first  President of Zambia, Dr. Kenneth Kaunda and former United Nations Secretary General, Dr. Boutrous Boutrous Ghali.
Other personalities billed to attend the Peace and Conflict Resolution Conference include all traditional rulers of Rivers State and patriots  including the Emir of Zazzau His Eminence Alhaji Shehu Idris, the Alaafin of Oyo His Royal Majesty, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi, former governor of old Rivers State, Air Marshal Ernest Adeleye and former Minister of Petroleum Resources, Mr. Mofia Akobo.
Stressing that attendance at the conference is strictly by invitation, the statement said that the peace meeting became necessary, adding “in view of the seemingly intractable socio-political problems presently besieging our beloved Rivers State, and taking into consideration the need for reason and moderation at these trying times of our nascent democracy.”
The meeting, which will take place at the ACPCR Centre, Kula, Ekulama, in Rivers State (near the Atlantic ocean) on August 3, 2013, will focus on the restoration of peace and progress in Rivers State, the need for creation of more states, and the need to continue to maintain the indissolubility of the Nigerian Nation state.
On the earlier conferences held, Queen Akasoba said: “I have been involved in peace efforts and conflict resolution around the world, it is therefore necessary that we deploy some vital strategic appurtenances and modus operandi designed to bring lasting peace to Rivers State, the entire Niger Delta Region and Nigeria as a whole.”

THAT PEACE MAY REIGN IN THE POLITY : Aftermath of GEJ/Northern Govs Meeting: Our New Deal With Jonathan-Sule Lamido

The trouble-shooting efforts by five northern governors, all of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), to “save the country’s democracy,” which began on July 20, 2013, with a visit to former President Olusegun Obasanjo, may have paid off.
This is so because President Goodluck Jonathan, who seemed unperturbed by the political situation in the country, judging from the comments of his aides, not only invited the five northern governors spearheading the “Save Nigeria’s Democracy,” campaign for “peace” talks, at the weekend, but also had an audience with Governor Rotimi Amaechi of Rivers State, whose travails appeared to be one of the sources of the current political tension in the country.
Interestingly, former Head of State, General Abdulsalami Abubakar, had, shortly before the governors’ visit to Obasanjo, warned that the Rivers crisis, if allowed to fester, could truncate the country’s democracy. The governors had also visited military President, Generals Ibrahim Badangida and Abdulsalami last Monday in Minna, Niger State, after visiting Obasanjo in Abeokuta.
Indications also emerged that Jonathan was concerned about the dimension the political situation was assuming first emerged last Thursday, when he met with a delegation from the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), who visited him to raise similar concern.
Jonathan, while responding to concerns expressed by the NBA team, led by its president, Mr. Okey Wali, promised to look into the security situations in Rivers, to ensure adherence to the rule of law in the state and maintenance of law and order. The weekend’s meeting with the governors was in fulfillment of the President’s promise to the NBA.
Contrary to media reports, however, Governor Kashim Shettima of Borno State and his Yobe State counterpart, Ibrahim Geidam, were nowhere near the Presidential Villa, Abuja during the meeting, let alone take part in the talks, it was confirmed. This much was attested to by two impeccable independent sources close to the two opposition governors.
But the governors who were at the Villa for the meeting at the instance of President Jonathan were: Sule Lamido (Jigawa), Musa Kwankwaso (Kano), Mu’azu Babangida Aliyu (Niger), Aliyu Wamakko (Sokoto) and Murtala Nyako (Adamawa).
When contacted, Governor Lamido confirmed that he and four of his colleagues were at the Presidential Villa, Abuja on Saturday, on the invitation of the President.
He disclosed this at his Abuja residence on Saturday night. This is even as he confirmed that Amaechi had earlier met with President Jonathan, before their own meeting and appreciating Chief Edwin Clark’s statesmanship for offering a public apology to Nigerians, through the media, for what might have been Nigerians’ perceived concerns and anger over his (Clark’s) comments and utterances in recent times.
Hear him: “Yes, we met with Mr. President to discuss the current political situation in the country.
“He invited us, five of us. We discussed all issues, especially the current political trend in the country. The discussions were very frank and honest. We told ourselves the truth. And we were very, very frank with each other.
“He also called a meeting with Amaechi. And from what he (President) told us, they were also very frank with each other. So let’s leave it at that,” Lamido added.
Asked to comment on Clark’s apology to Nigerians, the Jiagwa governor said: “All I can do is to show my admiration, because in our culture, a younger person cannot commend the older one. Therefore, I want to show my admiration for his statesmanship for offering a public apology to Nigerians for whatever might have been their perceived concerns and anger over his utterances.
“And I also appreciate his genuine concern by saying that all he was saying was not meant to threaten the stability and unity of the country. Therefore, again, I appreciate his genuine concern for the stability and unity of Nigeria, that is how leaders and elders should behave. If elders and leaders will own up to their perceived mistakes, Nigeria will certainly overcome all these transitional concerns and grievances,” Lamido declared.

THE GOD THAT ANSWERETH BY FIRE : “God Will Place A Curse On You” ... Actress Toyin Aimakhu

Toyin Aimakhu has had enough of all the negativities coming from her critics. The actress who recently got married to fellow actor, Niyi Johnson took to her twitter handle @aimakhutoyin to condemn what she terms negative criticism faced by people in the entertainment industry.
Since she walked down the aisle with her handsome hubby, the pretty actress has come under criticisms. While some alleged that she’s about three years older than her husband, others lambasted her for staging a low-key wedding ceremony as a celeb.
Not happy with all these, the Edo State-born actress has allegedly placed a curse on her critics and begged God to make it come to pass.
She tweeted, ‘I don’t understand anymore,  people will insult us to get married after getting married you will be cursing us that is just a year, if the marriage breaks again you people will be shouting that we arr irresponsible. Anyways anyone who places a curse or say negative words about my home GOD of Abraham,GOD of GOD, ALLAH will place a curse on them and all their lives will bring negative meanings to people”.
She added, “Blood runs through our veins and not petrol or diesel, being an actor or actress doesn’t mean we don’t make mistakes, pleases keep praying for us. I will try my best to keep my head up and be the best wife, role model, actress, friend and mother. No more curses or abuse, we are human and not Holy Spirit”.
The actress then rounded up her series of tweets, saying, “I rest my case till another day, for the future. I was never married, this is my first and only and last marriage till I die. I need your prayers to kip me going not curse.”
