LOOK WHO'S TALKING AND HEAR WHAT HE'S SAYING : CHIBOK GIRLS: We Will Not Compromise Our Sovereignty – Chief Of Army Staff ... LeadershipNews

Adesola-Amosu
The sovereignty of Nigeria will never be compromised in the attempt to use the multinational forces to free the abducted female students of Government Secondary School, Chibok, Borno State.
Since the coming of the international military and intelligence support, a section of the polity has been expressing concern over the sovereignty and security of the country, but the chief of air staff, Air Mashal Adesola Amosu, assured yesterday that Nigeria’s sovereignty won’t  be compromised.
He spoke in Abuja after the decoration ceremonies of 12 new air warrant officers.  He stated: “What you have to know about multinationals coming to our aid is that it’s not strange because nations don’t fight alone again; you have to fight as coalition of states. Don’t forget the little alliances – even great nations like Britain  confess that they have it in their agreement that they will always respect the little alliances. Nations work together; it’s not the first time it’s happening to us.
“During the ECOMOG operations in Liberia, generally, ECOWAS got assistance in terms of information. So, what is happening today is not strange. And don’t forget:  we even acknowledge the vision of the chief of air staff; we are going to recognise credible international partnership. So it is not strange; it is what we have put on paper that is happening today. So we are happy.”
According to him, international support is an indication that Nigeria is well respected in the comity of nations as a result of the influence of President Goodluck Jonathan.
He stated: “Remember that, today, Mr President, the commander-in-chief of the armed forces of Nigeria, has put Nigeria at the forefront of nations for a change that everybody is working for. And we are grateful we are getting it; in addition to that, partnership and alliances bring to you a capability you never had before. It’s cheap, it’s credible. Thank God we are going for it.
“It is not what will compromise our sovereignty. We are still working as a nation. They will provide information and if you want extra they will provide for it. I think they will be ready to give all.”
When asked if those in the battlefronts are being motivated despite the limited resources, Amosu said yes: “Let me be clear about issue of motivation: not just the Nigerian Air Force but the armed forces — officers are well motivated. Don’t forget, in any society no matter what you give them they will ask for more. We have machinery in place for people seeking for more unduly.”
Speaking on those who were promoted and the conditions attached, Amosu disclosed that it was as a result of their performances in the ongoing counter-insurgency operations.
