WINNING THE WAR AGAINST TERROR : JTF kills 60 insurgents on Bauchi-Jigawa border ... DailyTrust

The Joint Task Force patrolling Lamba forest in Darazo local government area of Bauchi State, along the borders with Jigawa, killed 60 insurgents while on operation that led to the death of two soldiers on Monday evening.
This was disclosed to journalists by the Director of Press to Jigawa State Governor, Mallam Umar Kyari.
“The JTF carrying out the operation in Darazo forest are from Jigawa and they have been patrolling that area after the last attack in Gwaram about three weeks ago,” he said.
“In the course of their operation they killed about 60 insurgents. It was while on patrol Monday that their vehicle stepped on a mine that caused the death of two soldiers.”
He said efforts are ongoing by the JTF to contain the insurgents.
A source who spoke to Daily Trust on condition of anonymity said the insurgents have been on the Bauchi- Jigawa border for over two years adding that they initially attack from Bauchi but lately set up camps in the forest close to Jigawa. Daily Trust gathered that there are about 10 camps in the forest close to Jigawa with about five camps with hundreds of insurgents while the forest on the side of Bauchi had 17 camps with 7 units.
According to the source some herdsmen who saw the dead insurgents also corroborated the JTF story.
