The founder and general superintendent of Deeper Life Bible Church, Pastor William F. Kumuyi, has said that going by the antecedents of President Muhammadu Buhari and his vice, Professor Yemi Osinbajo, the duo will no doubt produce the desired change.
On whether the new government is capable of bringing about the desired change, he said, “I believe from the past records of the president and the vice president that they meant what they said during their campaigns and I believe they will focus on a drive towards bringing about the much talked about change.”
“I also believe that the new government is looking into ways to solve the problem of insecurity and I don’t think we should allow ourselves in the public to pre-empt what the government is going to do, but we should back them up with support and prayers and we believe that God will give us real good security in the country,” he said.
On the much talked about corruption, he said fighting and stamping out corruption from the system will require collective efforts from every well-meaning Nigerian.
This is just as he called on religious leaders to fight corruption in the country by helping their followers understand that corruption is an evil thing and a sin against God, the society and humanity in general.
Pastor Kumuyi stated this while answering questions from newsmen shortly after a crusade organised at the Deeper Life Campground in Kaduna at the weekend.
According to him, the church cannot solve all the problems bedeviling the country but can help solve part of them. He, therefore, urged Ministers of God to help people live righteous and commendable lives through their preaching.
“If we who are preachers in churches will help our people to understand that corruption is an evil thing and a sin against God, the society and humanity in general, we can help solve the problem of corruption,” he stressed.
He further appealed to leaders of other religious groups to also influence people who come to their places of worship positively. “We must all join hands together to stamp out corruption while government is playing its own role among the civil service so that we can all fight against the monster called corruption. The point is that there is corruption in the country and people are involved but the important thing is that we must find ways to work against corruption and see that we have dignity of life and let the people understand that it is good to earn money legitimately and spend what you have rather than stealing the money that belongs to the nation,” he stated.
