TRAGIC TRAGEDY : Man kills ex-wife, hangs self, plus photographs (EXERCISE VIEWER DISCRETION PLS WITH PHOTOS OF VERY GRAPHIC NATURE HERE)

A 47-year-old banker turned taxi driver, Jimoh Lateef, has stabbed his ex-wife, Amudat Oluwafunmilayo Lateef, to death in Akure, Ondo State.
Jimoh hung himself after killing Oluwafunmilayo.
They were married for about 10 years.
Before the marriage went sour, they had produced five children.
Oluwafunmilayo, aged about 45, a trader at Iloro Market in Akure, the Ondo State capital, hails from Ijaraisin in Kwara State while Jimoh, who was formerly a banker, hails from Osogbo in Osun State.
It was gathered that they had been having marital problems for the past two years, which led to them going to court to obtain divorce.
This was after several threats from Jimoh that he was going to kill his ex-wife and kill himself.
But when the families of the couple realised that Jimoh was always battering her, they decided it was better they went their separate ways.
Two weeks ago, Jimoh requested that the court should divorce them, a request that was granted.
The court gave Olufunmilayo two men to assist her pack her belongings from Jimoh’s house.
But when she got to the house, Jimoh begged her again and they both became emotional and she could only pick two of her clothes and left.
But on Friday afternoon, residents of Omoniyi Quarters in Agbogbo area, along the Owo-Benin-Akure Expressway were thrown into pandemonium when one of the children of the deceased returned from school to meet his mum in the pool of her own blood and his father dangling from the ceiling of the house.
It was gathered that the child raised the alarm, which attracted the residents who discovered the lifeless body of the Lateefs in the house.
The Chairman of the landlord’s association of Omoniyi Quarters, Ojo Oluwatayo, reported the case to the Divisional Police Station in Ijapo.
The DPO, SP Jane Mbanefo, immediately swung into action and moved to the scene of the incident.
Mbanefo said had the neighbours of the Lateefs called the police or intervened when they heard a distress call from the house, the lives of the deceased would have been saved.
She urged the public to assist the police by reporting such cases promptly.
When the dead bodies were taken to the station, she noted that there was no case as the family of Jimoh pleaded that the bodies should be taken for burial because they were muslims and there was no case over it.
Speaking with the uncle of late Jimoh, who simply identified himself as Baba Labaika, he said: “We have reported to the Deji of Akure and we want to bury Jimoh in his house while his ex-wife will be buried elsewhere since there is no case.”
It was gathered that Jimoh has another wife who resides at Olufoam area of Akure.
The Public Relations Officer of the Ondo State Police Command, ASP Wole Ogodo, confirmed the incident.
Ogodo urged the public to refrain from violence as a way of resolving dispute.
