There are reports of gunshots around the complex of the Rivers State Government House.
DailyPost was informed that a number of hired thugs earlier stormed the vicinity shooting sporadically.
A reliable source within the Government House confirming the development said “the situation is under control but still very tense”
According to him, the State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Mbu Joseph Mbu, is at the scene to monitor security.
“The COMPOL is personally taking charge of the situation. In fact, as I speak with you, he is in front of the main gate. The atmosphere is laden with tear gas.”
Asked to confirm the gunshots, he answered in the affirmative, “Yes that is true, I think the Police had returned fire to chase away the thugs.”
On the whereabouts of the Governor Rotimi Ameachi, our source said, “Oga is safe and sound. He is very fine”
Security has been tightened around Amaechi, while operatives are stationed in several points in and around the complex.

On Tuesday, members of the House of Assembly engaged in a brawl, following the move by five members loyal to Minister of State for Education, Nyesom Wike, to impeach the Speaker.
The plot was however unsuccessful.
