I go die, arrested in Delta for kidnapping, robbery
The Police in Delta State have arrested Oghenetaga Onome; Oghenewerute Efeyeme, popularly known as I go die (not the popular comedian, Francis Agoda); and Voke Erhiaware, popularly known as Simple, for armed robbery.
They were on Monday arrested along the Sanubi/Eku Highway in Ethiope East Local Government Area of Delta State after they barricaded the road, shot and raped their victims.
Prior to their arrest, detectives also smoked out of their hideous Lucky Aungom and Issah Idris after a failed attempt to kidnap one Charles Ihuagwa at Okureokpo in the same council area.
The Eagle Online gathered that the suspects, in a text message to their victim, threatened to abduct him except he drops N2 million at a designated location in Asaba, the Delta State capital.
But acting on a tip-off, detectives from ‘A’ Division, Asaba laid siege at the location after advising the complainant to drop the money by St. Bridges’ Secondary School gate, in Asaba, as commanded by the kidnappers.
“Consequently”, said the state police command’s Public Relations Officer, Celestina Kalu, a Deputy Suprientendent of Police, “the suspects, one Lucky Aungom ‘m’, the mastermind of the crime and Issah Idris ‘m’, a tricycle operator were arrested while trying to collect the money.”
I go die, Simple and five others, according to the police spokesman in Asaba on Monday, barricaded Sanubi/Eku Expressway before the police patrol team moved to the scene.
They shot and wounded one Afamefune Onyah and John Oghenero of Orerokpe among other persons and also raped the wife of one of their victims before escaping from the scene.
“Acting on a tip off, the detectives handling the case, arrested I go die and Simple at Okureokpo. They have since confessed to the crime and their other gang members,” said the PPRO.
While she listed the items recovered from them to include some handsets belonging to their victims, the PPRO said “they will soon appear in court.”
