Gunmen on Thursday attacked Kwasakwasa village in Birnin Gwari Local
Government Area of Kaduna State killings several residents of the area
including two soldiers.
Security source told our correspondent that the soldiers had gone to
comb the area for the bandits when they battle with the gunmen.
He said several people fro three villages sustained varying degrees
of the injuries and were taken to the Birnin Gwari General Hospital.
When contacted , the State Police Commissioner, Olufemi Adenaike said
he was still waiting for details from the area as at the time of filing
this report.
However, confirming the incident, the Assistant Director, Army Pubic
Relations, One Division of the Nigerian Army, Kaduna , Colonel S U.
Kukasheka said two soldiers were killed by the gunmen.
The Army spokesman said “Sorry I am attending a programme in Jaji.
Yes, I can confirm to you there was an encounter between our soldiers
and insurgents in Birnin Gwari in which a number of the assailants were
killed. Unfortunately, we also sustained two casualties. Other details
later. Thank you.”
Our correspondent learnt that the attacked occurred at about 6am yesterday (Thursday}.
It was further gathered that three vehicles belonging to the securIty operatives during the incident were damaged.
