THE ONSLAUGHT MOVES ON : Northern Governors’ Forum Chair: Fresh Plot To Remove Gov Aliyu Uncovered ... LEADERSHIP NEWS

Some hawks in the presidency have allegedly moved against Niger State governor and chairman of the Northern States Governors’ Forum (NSGF), Dr Babangida Aliyu, it was gathered last night. They are reportedly dangling a princely sum of N70million to each member of the state House of Assembly.
The latest action against Governor Aliyu is believed to be connected to his alleged role in the re-election of Rivers State governor Rotimi Amaechi as the chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF), where he defeated the NSGF-backed Plateau State governor Jonah Jang with 19 votes against the latter’s 16 votes.
To make good their threat, the sponsors of the move have fixed a crucial meeting of the NSGF for this Thursday in Abuja.
The source added that, at the meeting, the hawks would likely push for a replacement of Governor Aliyu as the chairman of the forum.
It was further gathered that the hawks are pushing for the election of either Katsina State governor Ibrahim Shema or Bauchi State governor Isa Yuguda as a replacement for Aliyu
LEADERSHIP had exclusively reported that the presidency had targeted some “recalcitrant” governors including governors Aliyu , Amaechi, and Sule Lamido of Jigawa.
A credible source also confided in LEADERSHIP that the arrowhead of the latest plot  against Aliyu is a prominent member of the PDP Board of Trustees (BoT).
It was learnt that the BOT member held meetings with some PDP chieftains at a venue in the Bida area of Niger state.
The PDP BoT member, it was learnt, had on May 11, 2013, met with key stakeholders from the zone  where he canvassed the reordering of the rotational sequence of the governorship position among the three zones in the state.
The plot to remove the governor as the chairman of the NSGF, it was learnt, is being championed by three governors from the north-west and north-central.
It was further learnt that their move had been endorsed by Aso Rock Villa.
LEADERSHIP was reliably informed that the hawks would back down on the plot against Governor Aliyu only if he recognises Plateau State governor Jang as the authentic chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum.
