The Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Professor Viola Onwuliri said her family is yet to receive any compensation from Dana Air, after losing her husband in the crash last year.
She disclosed this on Sunday, in a chat with journalists after the One Year Remembrance Mass, held at Good Shepherd Catholic Church, University of Jos.
According to her, “As for Dana, we have no link with them, we’ve not seen them, we’ve not had any contact with them and I just hope they’ve reached other Nigerians that are involved.
Speaking on what her husband should be remembered for; she said “I want Nigerians to remember him for his kindness, patriotism, hardwork and for his expansion and strengthening of the educational sector.
Adding that, Late Prof. Celestine Onwuliri should be remembered by Nigerians as a deeply religious person and a great family man, “Who loved his wife, children and indeed people that come across him”.
It would be recalled that Late Prof. Celestine Onwuliri, was the Vice Chancellor of Federal University of Technology Owerri, and was at some
point an Acting Vice Chancellor University of Jos.
He was the man, whose corpse was found intact, with his cloths not burnt and with a Rosary in his hand after the Dana Air crash, which claimed his life and several others.
In his goodwill message, the Arch Bishop of Jos, Most Rev. Ignatius Kaigama, described the deceased saying “Prof. Onwuliri was no doubt a true model of simplicity, commitment and patriotism.
Adding that, “We are well aware of his tremendous to the growth of the society especially in the educational sector.
“His various achievements in his time as acting Vice Chancellor of the University of Jos and Vice Chancellor of the Federal University of
Technology Owerri, FUTO, testify to these great virtues”.
