Some injured victims of the collapsed pavilion at the Transformation Ambassadors of Nigeria (TAN) rally held in Minna on Saturday may be flown abroad even as the governor of Niger State, Dr Mu’azu Babangida Aliyu has debunked some newspaper reports that his wife was injured during the incident.
Meanwhile, the Niger State All Progressives Congress (APC) has said that the collapse of the pavilion was the product of the corruption that has been the trademark of the Peoples Democratic party (PDP) and by extension the TAN.
LEADERSHIP gathered that some of the victims sustained backbone and spinal cord related injuries that may require medical attention abroad, but no life has so far been lost.
After the incident on Saturday, some of those with serious injuries were transferred from Minna General Hospital to IBB Specialist Hospital and were later moved to Abuja for comprehensive medical attention on the orders of the Niger State governor, Dr Mu’azu Babangida Aliyu.
It has been confirmed that the secretary of Campaign for Democracy (CD) in Niger State, Comrade Mohammed Abdullahi Jabi who was among the injured victims has been transferred to an Indian Hospital in Abuja.
He was initially taken to National Hospital, Abuja alongside other seriously injured victims where the doctors confirmed that he had serious backbone injury but his spinal cord was not affected.
Jabi said in a brief telephone conversation that “I have been moved from the National Hospital to an India hospital in Karu. After an X-ray examination, doctors said I have fraction in backbone but it has not affected my spine cord”.
Meanwhile the Niger state Governor Dr Muazu Babangida Aliyu said contrary to some Newspapers report (not Leadership) his wife was among the lucky dignitaries at the VIP stand of the last Saturday Pavilion crash who did not sustain Injury.
He made the disclosure through his Chief Press Secretary Mr Israel Ayegbe Ebije that. “ I read in some newspapers that my wife was ‘badly injured’ and I wonder where all that was coming from. Let me therefore make it categorically clear that she was not injured. After the rally we were together to visit victims at the hospital.”
Aliyu said it became necessary for him to tell Nigerians the true position of his wife’s health on account of several calls across the country by well wishers who were demanding to know how she is faring.
He added “Let me also intimate that nobody died in the incidence. The worst cases were cuts sustained during the collapse. Most of the victims have since been discharged from the hospital only a few are under observation.”
Meanwhile the All Progressive Congress APC Niger state Publicity Secretary Mr Jonathan Vatsa said that despite the fact that it was obvious that those who constructed the Pavilion were using public fund from Abuja they still risked people lives to construct faulty pavilions.
Vatsa added that “ it is the way the PDP promotes corruption that their supportive organization like TAN is also clothed in corruption, first of all let us ask them where did they get this money, you could see no natural crowd there they went and hired students from Tertiary institutions to fill the gap yet they did shoddy jobs to risk their lives”
