SIGNS OF AN IMPENDING IMPLOSION : Atiku Confirms Floating of New Party, PDM with PDP Governors!

Street Journal has found out that former Vice President, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar and some Governors elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party are set to form a new political party.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Wednesday confirmed that former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar and some Governors applied for the registration of a  political party. Findings revealed that the party’s structure will be based mainly on the  political group, People’s Democratic Movement (PDM) which Abubakar has led since the demise of the late Gen Shehu Musa Yar’Adua who founded it.
Kayode Idowu, the Chief Press Secretary to Prof Attahiru Jega, the INEC Chairman also disclosed that the Commission has started processing the application.
Street Journal gathered that the Governors behind the political association include Murtala Nyako of Adamawa State, Babangida Aliyu of Niger State, Sule Lamido of Jigawa State, Rabiu Kwankwaso of Kano State and Aliyu Wammako of Sokoto State all of whom are at loggerheads with the leadership of the PDP.
When he was asked on Thursday if rumours of starting the PDM as a political party is true, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar who responded via his Twitter account disclosed that “it is true that many of my associates are involved in the registering of the PDM. However, I am still a member of PDP”. On whether his associates will run for elective offices on the platform of the PDM or whether they will work against the PDP, Atiku’s response was “I am still a PDP member but I have always welcomed the expansion of the political space to accommodate all opinions.”
Further probe into whether he would consider the offer if he was asked to be the candidate for PDM, Atiku replied “my current focus isn’t politics but the future of Nigeria. Our youth, jobs, security are urgent priorities.”
Observers have opined that the entrance of the PDM into mainstream politics may change the face of political calculations ahead of the 2015 general elections, especially as many were hitherto looking forward to the race being a contest between the PDP and the APC.

  1. Thanks for your well laid out information. I saw this implosion coming. It was inevitable and significant. Would you know the address or contact # of the new PDM party?
