Information reaching 247ureports.com from competent source in Awka, the capital of Anambra State indicate that the ongoing Peoples Democratic Party [PDP] exercise to select a gubernatorial candidate to represent the PDP in the November 16, 2013 elections in Anambra appears on the heels of an all riggers affair.
According to the information gathered the laid down process for the nomination and/or selection of the delegates – who would cast their votes for the aspirants - may have been set aside by the personalities involved in the process. It is learnt that virtually the entire PDP aspirants have bused in persons from outside Anambra State – to pose as delegates.
Specifically, the PDP aspirants along with their godfathers are reported to be holed up at their respective hotels in Awka – where they are said to be ‘printing’ delegate tags of preselected names. The Chris Uba camp are said to be lounged at Choice Hotel located along Arthur Eze Avenue near Unizik Junction in Awka, the Nicholas Ukachukwu group are lounged at the Finotel Hotel, the located near the Anambra State government house, the Akachukwu group were reported lounged at a hotel near Unizik Junction, other aspirants are lounged at the hotels scattered around the Awka metropolis. The ongoing printing of fake materials are reported to be under the protection of security agents – both of Nigeria – and of private companies.
The arrangement is for the tags which are printed with already published delegate names – will be given to the foreigners to bare the names on the tags. With the delegate tags, the ‘delegates’ will move to the voting grounds to vote once their names are called.
As at 2:10am [Nigerian time], the process of ‘manufacturing’ fake delegate tags were still ongoing. The streets of Awka was reported to fill with numerous armed men and security agents looking fierce with eyes bloodshot. A security source who spoke to 247ureports.com expressed concern that the exercise may spiral down to violence and gunshots – when the voting exercise begins – and it becomes obvious that there are duplicate tags and duplicate delegates.
