THE TARABA STATE BROUHAHA ... IN A NATION BESEIGED BY CROOKISH POLITICAL GLADIATORS : Police detain Suntai’s spokesman, 4 others ... SundayTrust.

The Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity to Governor Danbaba Danfulani Suntai of Taraba State, Silvanus Giwa, was on Friday arrested and detained at the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the State’s police command, Jalingo.
Giwa, alongside four of his friends were arrested at about 10 p.m at Sinaf Suite, opposite Catholic Cathedral in Mile 6 area of Jalingo on the order of the police commissioner.
When our correspondent visited the state police command on Saturday morning, Giwa alongside his four friends were seen sitting down at police CID office.
Narrating the incident, Giwa told Sunday Trust that he was relaxing alongside his friends when policemen stormed the place and said he was under arrest.
He said four of his friends were equally arrested and brought to the police station where they spent the night.
By the time of filing this report, he said no reason was given for the arrest, adding that he is yet to know the time when they would regain freedom from the police detention.
Sunday Trust gathered from sources that the arrest may not be unconnected with Giwa’s recent media interview where he said the acting governor; Alhaji Garba Umar was running a parallel government to his boss, Governor Danbaba Danfulani Suntai.
When contacted, Taraba State Police Public Relations Officer, Assistant Superintendent Joseph Kwaji, however, said he was not aware of the arrest.
Reacting to the development, the former Commissioner for Information in Taraba State, Emmanuel Bello said, “The arrest, torture and continuous detention of Governor Suntai’s media aide, by the police in Jalingo is the latest proof of the return to jungle justice and a reign of terror under Alhaji Garba Umar”.
In a swift reaction, the Chief Press Secretary to Taraba State Acting Governor, Kefas Sule, told Sunday Trust that his boss, the acting governor said he did not give any order for such arrest.
According to him, the acting governor, Alhaji Garba Umar had summoned a meeting with security chiefs in the State to brief him on what really transpired.
