According to a Liberian official who has refused to be named, Mr Patrick Sawyer, consultant with the Ministry of Finance who was confirmed to be carrying the Ebola virus on arrival in Nigeria on the 20th of July, is dead.
He is the first recorded case of the virus in Nigeria, and the Lagos state government only admitted yesterday that Mr Saywer had been tested for Ebola.
Reuters reports that since an outbreak began in February, the Ebola virus has killed 632 people across Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone.
Lagos state has approximately 21 million people.
