The presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (rtd), yesterday vowed to tackle insecurity, poverty, unemployment, bribery and corruption, if elected in the forthcoming general election.
Addressing a mammoth crowd that trooped out to welcome him to the campaign ground at Democracy Park in Akure, the Ondo State capital yesterday, Buhari emphasised the need to rid-off these problems for the country to return to the path of progress.
According to him, such problems were major impediments to the nation’s progress and the moment they are fully tackled, Nigeria would be better for it.
“The issue of insecurity, unemployment corruption and kidnapping in the Southern part of the country are major impediment to the nation’s progress and development.
“An APC-led federal government will immediately create more job opportunities for the unemployed youths under administration, if elected,’’ he said.
Buhari pledged to equip all the Armed force and ensure that lives and property of citizenry are guaranteed.
He urged the people of the state come out enmass to collect their Permanent Voter Cards(PVCs) and vote for all the candidate on the of election.
The Vice Presidential candidate,Prof. Yemi Osibajo said those that are calling for postponement of the forthcoming elections are cowards, saying the call was an admission of failure by the federal government and as such should vacate the seat and allow capable hands to take over the mantle of leadership of the country.
In a remark, the National Chairman of the APC, Chief John Oyegun, said with the mammoth crowd that came out to welcome the party’s national leaders as showed that the people were for a “charge” in government.
Also speaking at the event, the national leader of the party,Asiwaju Bola Tinubu said over Sixty years,Nigerians as been in bondage of fake promises and urged the people to liberate themselves with this time.
He”This is a common revolution. They gave you fake promises all the time, fake economy revolution,now things have failed. We can not continue to spend 8years for the programme of 4years in our institutions. We will give you necessary tuition fee and equip our institutions like those ones in developed world”.
The State Chairman of the party, Hon. Isaacs Kekemeke said the state had become the home of progressive politics saying the people are able to discern between change and stagnation.
Present at the rally were the leaders of the party in South-west, national leaders and Presidential Aspirant and the founder of Leadership Newspaper, Sam Nda-Isaiah.
