INTERESTING TIMES : Pension Fund Fraud: Fugitive Maina Resurfaces In Abuja

The embattled Chairman of the dissolved Pension Reform Task Team [PRTT], Mr. Abdulrasheed Maina Tuesday made a surprise appearance at the Federal Capital Territory Secretariat of the Nigerian Union of Journalists saying he came to thank journalists for standing by him during his struggles and trails.
Surprisingly when he appeared at the premises journalists were surprised because it was unscheduled and he came without the usual retinue of security personnel and long motorcade that previously followed him about.
Mr. Maina who was wearing a white babanriga refused to speak with reporters as he made straight for the office of the NUJ FCT Chairman, Mr. Chuks Ehirim.
The former PPRTT Chairman’s whose visit to the NUJ lasted less than thirty minutes told inquisitive reporters that he never went onto hiding as he was at his residence throughout the period when he was declared wanted by the police.
He told the NUJ chairman that he was at the secretariat to thank Nigerian journalists for standing by him and for balancing their reports about him in the media.
Mr. Maina said that even though he was unjustly persecuted by those who do not like him, “I do not bear any grudges against anybody and I do not consider anybody as my enemy.”
It will be recalled that the former Police Reform Task Team (PRTT)  trouble with the Senate when he failed to honour several summons by the Committee probing discrepancies in pension administration to the tune of N195billion.
Subsequently, the Inspector General of Police, Mr. Mohammed Abubakar was ordered to arrest Mr. Maina who when underground but last week, he obtained an injunction from a High Court in Abuja restraining the Police from arresting him.
