REFUSED SUICIDE MISSION BUT SENTENCED TO DIE ANYWAY : Names of the 54 soldiers who the military court sentenced to death ... TheScoop

Below are the names of the 54 Nigerian soldiers who were sentenced to death by a military court martial on Wednesday, and the names of the five others who were acquitted.

The defence lawyer, Femi Falana, has vowed to appeal the ruling of the military court presided over by Brig. Gen. Mohammed Yusuf. Falana contended that the soldiers cannot be convicted for mutiny because they asked for weapons to engage the terrorists with because the mission was not supposed to be a suicide mission.

He said that the acquittal of five soldier was a front by the court martial to give an impression that the proceedings were fair.

The convicted soldiers include two corporals, nine lance corporals and 49 private soldiers.
