The case of violence against women, seems to be the latest pride among
men. The latest is the story of Bashorun Bayo Awosanya, a strong
ogun-state APC chieftain and close ally of the state governor, who was
involved in domestic violence with his wife, that almost resulted in
the loss of life, but for the timely intervention of the gate-man.
The
incident occurred at his sagamu GRA residence, around 8.30pm on the 20th
of April 2014 (easter sunday). According to close sources, trouble
started upon his returning angrily from a house-warming party. He accused
his wife of not attending the party with him and before the wife could
give a meaningful excuse, he pounced on her and started beating her blue and
black as has been his regular act. Sensing danger, the wife made
for an escape through the staircase, where he caught up with her,
and started hitting her head on the glass railings, and strangulating her.
The wife is currently receiving treatment in the hospital, thanks to the quick and smart move of the gate-man who raised an alarm,
