In their resolve to clinch all elective positions at the coming general polls, stakeholders of Adamawa State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) have reconciled their differences at a meeting attended by members of Nyako and Atiku’s camps on Saturday.
The meeting which held at the Dougirei residence of the former vice president, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, saw major stakeholders of the party from the two camps including former chairman of PDP in the state, Alhaji Mijinyawa Kugama, chief of staff to Nyako, Abdurrahaman Abbah Jimeta, and Alhaji Mansur Toungo from Nyako’s camp while Ibrahim Mijinyawa Yayaji and Sajoh Gella were some of the stalwarts from Atiku’s camp.
Similarly, the gubernatorial candidate of the party, Muhammadu Umar Jibrilla Bindowo alongside all the Senatorial and House of Representatives candidates of the party were at the meeting.
The resolution of the stakeholders to convene the reconciliatory meeting followed weeks of intense intra-party rivalry sequel to the conduct of the party’s primaries that saw members of Nyako’s camp majorly emerging as party’s candidates.
The intense intra-party crisis reached its crescendo last week when some Nyako loyalists openly accused the former vice president of refusing to support the gubernatorial ambition of the candidate of the party.
Sources at the meeting confided in our correspondent that following successful discussions at the meeting, the former vice president pledged to support all the candidates of the party in the coming elections to emerge victorious across the length and breadth of the state. The source also noted, “The meeting was candid and blunt as the two parties were frank and honest in their submissions which added to the hasty reconciliatory process as all aggrieved parties pledged to sheathe their swords for the victory of the party in the coming elections.”
“In the wake of the successful deliberations, former Vice President
Atiku Abubakar has pledged to work tirelessly to ensure that all the candidates of the party emerged victorious in the coming elections”.
