The governor-elect of Plateau State, Mr. Simon Lalong, has said he was talking with some banks to see that workers’ salaries being owed by the out-going administration of Jonah Jang are paid before the May 29 swearing-in day, adding that it was his first demonstration of his appreciation for the overwhelming votes he enjoyed from the civil servants in the gubernatorial election.
Lalong, in his maiden press briefing at the All Progressives Congress (APC) secretariat in Jos, also said peace-building and development would be a core value of his administration.

According to him, the choice of the APC by Plateau people shows clearly the desire for change by the people, which he said would remain sacrosanct and sacred.
He said: “I want the people of the state to regard this victory at the polls as our victory; this victory is for the whole of Plateau as there is no victor, no vanquished.”
While, commending Senator Gyang Pwajok of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who contested with him for his mature conduct during the electioneering, Lalong extended his warm hands of friendship him to join in building a virile Plateau.
He said: “I will do my best to engage Pwajok in my government by sending him to Abuja. “As a Senator, I have no place for him in Plateau, but I will send him to Abuja to serve Plateau.”
